Grill du Chateau is the realization of a dream of Jae Lee, a Palos Verdes local, who teamed with Al Castan, a renowned restaurateur to bring delicious French / California cuisine, fine wine and a romantic environment to the Palos Verdes Peninsula.
AL CASTAN -
Al Castan developed a love of French food at the age of 5 when his Grandfather gave him a plate of Escargot. You would imagine that a 5 year old would despise the sight of snails on his dinner plate, but young Al loved them. He began working at fine restaurants as a teen and eventually became the youngest server at famed San Diego restaurant The Fontainbleu Room specializing in tableside food preparation.
Later, Al would come to Palos Verdes to serve the clientele at Rive Gauche, moving up the ranks over a span of 14 years to become the restaurant's Maitre D' and eventually General Manager and partner.
Al ventured out on his own with huge success as owner operator of Reed's Restaurant in Manhattan Beach. After garnering ten years of success at Reed's along with many rave reviews from columnists such as Merrill Schindler, Al Castan brings his lifelong expertise and talent to the residents of Palos Verdes once again with Grill du Chateau. |
